Peter Warren began his career in the early eighties behind a news camera at CITY TV in Toronto. He left his mark at CITY by becoming one of Canada's first, 'Video Journalists' telling stories from behind the lens.
Looking for an opportunity to do more international stories, Peter joined Global Television's news team as a senior news cameraman where he covered stories from the high Arctic to the southern tip of South America. In the late eighties, Peter accepted an offer to work on the national magazine-style show, 'Sunday Edition' in Ottawa.
Several years ago, Peter decided to pursue a freelance career and has never looked back. He is now recognized as one of Canada's top lighting cameramen specializing in magazine-style location segments for news, documentary and lifestyle programs. His work is now seen around the world on programs like ABC World News Tonight, CNN, NHK Tokyo and Globo TV Brazil.
Here at home, Peter shoots regularly for all the Canadian networks as well as assignments for Discovery channel, behind-the-scenes segments for the Movie Network, documentaries for the History Channel and is the principle cinematographer on a travel show that has taken him around the world. He has been asked to speak at colleges and universities about his career and also conducts workshops on lighting and videography around the country.
Peter's hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. He has received national recognition, winning numerous national and international awards including five from the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, two from the National Press Photographers Association and a Gemini award for Best Photography. |
